Yesterday evening, a band of heavy rain moved across portions of northeast Grundy county. The Goose Lake Weather station experienced at least 4 hours of continuous moderate to heavy rainfall as individual showers “trained” over the same area. It was interesting as no lightning/thunder was experienced, just periods of heavy rain and calm to light wind conditions. Our 24 hour rainfall total this morning read from the manual rain gauge was 3.26 inches! Most of that fell in that 4 hour time span. It has been an extremely wet April and spring. Our monthly total now stands at 7.75 inches.
Their is much standing water around the area and streams are once again on the rise. I’m sure the local farmers are getting anxious to get out in the fields. I’d be curious to know what a “normal” average planting date is for around here and how this year compares.
