Severe Weather Preparedness Week March 2-8, 2008

This is severe weather preparedness week. Would you and your family know what to do if severe weather threatened? Here are some steps you can take to prepare for severe weather:

Buy a NOAA Weather Radio -This is the most direct way to get severe weather watches, warnings and advisories from the National Weather Service. Make sure you purchase one with Specific Area Message Encoding (SAME) capability that allows you to program your county. A weather radio can be placed in a standby mode and will sound an alarm if a warning has been issued for your county. More info on weather radios can be found here.

Have a safety plan in place at your home or business. Learn more here.
