Grundy county and surrounding areas are now classified in the severe drought (D2) category. As most are painfully aware, any rain of recent weeks has been hit or miss. Check out this flow duration hydrograph for the Kankakee River near Wilmington, IL courtesy US Geological Survey (USGS) Waterwatch. Late summer into fall is when rivers typically experience their lowest levels but compare the present to last year at this time.
